Katherine Troy, Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Hi! My name is Katherine Troy, or Kat, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and therapist based in Florida.
I became a therapist because I believe people are capable of achieving great change. When people are given a chance and have the right therapist fit, so much can happen. I’ve seen in for those I have worked with and I have seen it in my own life.
I've worked alongside people in some of the hardest moments of their lives in hospice, crisis stabilization, and intensive outpatient programs . What I've learned is that healing isn't always having the right answers. It's about feeling grounded and safe enough to look at the questions and carving a way forward. I’m an advocate for group therapy and group support, I believe community can be a source of strength, joy and comfort.
My approach is warm and gentle, but I'm not just here to nod along. When the way you've been thinking about yourself or your situation is getting in your way, I'll name it kindly, and honestly. I draw from CBT, DBT, and attachment-based approaches. I'm completing my EMDR certification this summer for clients ready to do deeper trauma work.
I work best with people who are self-aware and ready to do the work, even if they're not sure exactly where to start. I have a particular passion for grief, relationship patterns, mood struggles, and the unique challenges that come with being neurodivergent. I provide affirming care for LGBTQ individuals and welcome clients of all identities and backgrounds.
Outside of sessions you'll find me with my husband, friends, dog, and two cats, outdoors when I can be, listening to music, or laughing along to a comedy podcast.
I'm so glad you're here.
